Mornings & Afternoons
I am fascinated by the way we perceive reality, especially by the way light, time, reflections and states of mind fluctuate and alter what we see.
In the “Mornings & Afternoons” series, I paint the same view of garden, wall, trees, and sky that I see through my studio door, mornings and afternoons throughout the year. Using a diptych format for these, I depict Morning on the left panels and Afternoon on the right panels. This series also includes polyptychs and smaller paintings and drawings which follow the passage of shadow on a wall. In the course of a day, I witness great and subtle transformations of light, color and form, and am held spellbound.
